Prior to the 2023 Hungarian GP, Sergio Perez was spotted in Madrid where Red Bull had theirs prestigious show run. The Mexican driver got to push the limits of Sebastian Vettel’s championship winning car on the streets where he did a ton of donuts. Before the action took place on the street, the Mexican had called a press conference to address questions from the media.
Sergio Perez has been having a difficult year compared to teammate Max Verstappen. Despite being second in the driver’s championship, there is a 99 point gap between him and Verstappen ahead of the Hungarian GP. The Mexican still hasn’t been able to match Max’s pace this year. During the media session in Madrid, Perez was asked about his plans in the future after his F1 career comes to an end.
Here is what he had to say in an interview. “There are several plans in the future that excite me, but for now my main focus is competition. When you are in Formula 1, the attention should be directed only to F1. But the truth is that there are plans that excite me a lot for the future and one of them is tequila, my own brand,” concluded the Red Bull driver. Checo has made his intentions pretty clear with his statement.
Sergio Perez’s qualifying has gotten worse since Monaco 2023
Sergio Perez has had to face a lot of criticism and pressure from Red Bull in recent times. The Mexican driver has failed to make it out of Q1 multiple times either due to bad luck or just poor strategy and pace. If this keeps going on, Red Bull might reconsider their driver lineup. With Daniel Ricciardo joining AlphaTauri from this weekend onwards, the possibility of something like this happening have increased.
Red Bull has been pretty dominant this season having won all the 10 grand prix rounds that have taken place so far. Sergio Perez has won twice in Jeddah and Baku respectively. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has won eight races this year. With 13 races left to go, there is still much more in store for the Mexican to prove that he is worthy of the seat. It will be interesting to see what happens in Hungary this weekend.
