“So redbull were chEATING,” Fans hilariously react as Red Bull Racing has been deemed guilty for breaching the cost cap regulations for 2021

Max Verstappen and Adrian Newey

The 2021 season was one to remember for Red Bull racing as the team pushed through to win the drivers championship in the most dramatic way with Max Verstappen last year. However it seems to have come to the FIA’s knowledge that the team was able to accomplish this feat by allegedly breaking the cost cap rules that have been put to control the team’s spending. The possible outcome for a violation like this could be massive for the team.

From the 2021 season onwards, it was proposed that all the F1 teams will have a budget of 145 million dollars maximum and cannot spend a single cent more. However Red Bull seems to have interpreted that differently. The cost cap was proposed to make the teams spend equally and thus make the racing more equal and fair. After the FIA document was released, 9 teams including Ferrari and Mercedes looked to be in compliance of the rules except the Milton Keynes squad.

Some rumours are flaring revolving around the reason as to why the team crossed the burger limit and it seems like Red Bull spent between 1-2 million dollars on catering itself. Fans burst out into laughter on hearing this and took to Twitter in order to express their thoughts. Indeed no one saw this coming. F1 twitter didn’t take much time to crack some godly jokes on this topic. Here is a list of some of the best ones.
