The race in Baku took a positive turn for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes after both the Ferraris had to retire due to engine failures, and when even more retirements followed up causing multiple Virtual Safety Cars and neutralizing the race enough for the Briton to follow up. Hamilton started the race 7th after a tough qualifying, but managed to finish P4 after a chaotic race.

The race seemed to be in the hands of Ferrari and Red Bull after the qualifying and after the race start. But soon, the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz was seen standing still out of a corner, and it looked like he had some sort of an engine or gearbox issue, which made him retire early from the race. This gave George Russell a chance to step up. Charles Leclerc was fighting for the lead of the race when all of a sudden his engine smoked, and he had to retire from the race as well, meaning a 0 point finish for the Scuderia.
As breaking as it was for the Ferrari fans, Mercedes fans cheered up, but there was much more that was troubling the drivers inside the Mercedes car.

Although Mercedes managed to have a 3 – 4 finish, they were seen having a lot of porpoising, which almost felt like the car’s suspension was going to break down. Lewis Hamilton even said that the car was killing his back mid-race.
The team has been going through a lot of bouncing issues since the season started, and it is one of the major reasons why they are unable to perform better like they did. After the race, Hamilton was seen struggling to get out of his car because of all the back ache. Fans sympathized with the Briton, and took it on Twitter to give the team a few suggestions.
After the race, Mercedes made it to 161 points in their championship, chasing down Ferrari steadily, who stand with 199 points. Lewis Hamilton was also made the Driver of The Day by the fans’ voting during the race because of his performance.
