Mercedes announced that they are repeating their Driver line-up in 2024 with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell both onboarded until 2025. Stefano Domenicali believes that Hamilton’s renewal is solely to focus on getting back the World Title.
“He is an extraordinary driver and I believe he has only one objective today – his eighth world title. I’m sure he feels in great shape, he has a lot of confidence in the team and, from a sporting point of view, it’s nice to know he’s there.”, said Domenicali. The CEO was recently reported speaking about Verstappen’s dominance in the sport and refusing to take action on Red Bull’s advantage over it’s rivals.
The elusive eight championship evaded Hamilton back in the famous 2021 season. The Victor then, was Verstappen and many believe Lewis has been seeking revenge. Domenicali joins the list.
Lewis Hamilton’s longevity surprises even himself
Ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton sealed a contract extension which keeps him in Formula 1 well into his forties. The Brit, when asked about his longevity, said, “I definitely didn’t think that I would be at the age that I am and feel the way that I do, physically and mentally and still love what I’m doing as much as I do.” Lewis added, “That’s something I’m incredibly grateful for.”
As the Seven-time World Champion is slated to be on the grid till 2025, motor-heads around the world hold their breath to see if he can make even more history in our sport.
