“Still on a knife edge,” Daniel Ricciardo disappointed after getting disqualified in Q2

Daniel Ricciardo
The qualifying session at the French Grand Prix came to an end with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen on the front grid, but it ended differently for McLaren after Daniel Ricciardo did not get into Q2 and qualified only P11. At the same time, Lando Norris, his teammate, managed to outqualify him by 6 places, after qualifying P5. Danny has been having a tough time adapting to the MCL36, and thus, has failed to perform better than Lando most of the time. His future in the sport has been questioned many times after he has not performed up to mark, or upto his capabilities.
He was close to making it into Q3, but got knocked out at the very last moment, according to the Aussie, he messed up a few corners which cost him a lot of lap time; the Paul Ricard circuit is not an easy one, and the final sector of the track is hard on both the tyres and the driver, as even the slightest mistake can have the lap time being deleted. Ricciardo said that after losing Q3 on a knife’s edge, he will keep working and pushing to finish better during the race.

Daniel Ricciardo to focus on tyre management tomorrow

After losing a chance at moving into Q3, Daniel Ricciardo now understands the track well enough to analyze that it needs a lot of tyre conservation during the final and first few corners. “It will be about tyre management tomorrow. That is… last year was a lot like that. This circuit is demanding on the tyres, so if we can do that well. We can be good in the race. I think we have made progress understanding the new package,” he said (quoted by Formula1News UK)
Scoring points is now absolutely necessary for Daniel Ricciardo as he has only 17 points in his bag, which is really less in contrast to Norris, who has scored 64 points until now. This is also making it hard for the team as they sit in 4th with 81 points, in constant danger from Alpine, who also have 81 points now.
