“Still things are out of my control and surprising me,” Carlos Sainz “not happy” after Miami crash

The first two practice sessions were held on the new Miami track, ahead of qualifying and the race, and Carlos Sainz had a tough time getting used to it.

All the drivers are still learning the track, as it has many tight chicanes and corners, and going into turn 16 has not been easy for many drivers. We saw Valtteri Bottas crash out during the first practice, and during FP2, after setting a single laptime, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz spun out and crashed into the wall at turn 14, a very tight chicane.

“I’m the first one that is not happy with the last two crashes, and I’m the first one that is analysing it and trying to take conclusions from it,” he said.

This frustrating incident is followed up by the previous races, where Carlos Sainz had early retirements; the Australian Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. In both of the races, Carlos was unable to score even a single point, and now after Miami, the frustration of the Spaniard is understandable, as he has a fast car yet unable to finish the races.

Sainz also suffered a puncture during FP1, which made him go through a major spin. Other than everything, he also hit his head on a fence which made his head bleed. All of this comes down on him, and he’s having a really hard time.

Carlos Sainz moved to Ferrari in the 2020 season, when Ferrari had hit rock bottom, and still now, after 2 years in the team, he admitted that he is still learning a lot about the car, and many of the things are surprising him.

“I think I’m still learning a lot of this car, this car is still surprising me, I’m not going to lie.

“Still things that are out of my control that are surprising me, and as soon as I get on top of them and learn them, I think I as you saw today, I can be quick in any given lap,” the Spaniard quoted.

Sainz told that although he completed a few laps, he is still unhappy because “this is not how you start a weekend,” he said, talking about the spin and crashes.

As of now, Carlos stands 5th in the championship with 38 points, ahead of Lando Norris in the McLaren. Ferrari stand first in the constructors’ with 124 points.
