“That would never happen to Max,” Pete Windsor shocked by Charles Leclerc’s costly error
Charles Leclerc after crashing out in France
The French Grand Prix ended in rage and tears for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari as the hopes of winning the World Title are slowly fading away due to the imprudent mistakes the entire crew has been making all season long. The mistakes from both Leclerc and the team (later on in the race) is responsible for a lot of loss of points, where it could have been a weekend of their domination.

Leclerc was leading the race when Max Verstappen pitted, and on the very next lap, Leclerc lost the rear end of his car, spun, and took himself out of the race. Pete Windsor analyzed the crash on his YouTube video, and found out it to be a mistake from the Monegasque. Majority of the fans thought that it was an issue with the car after the reliability from the F1-75 all season, but as Leclerc said in his interview, it was completely his fault and had nothing to do with the car. “That was one of the most surprising things I’ve ever seen,” Windsor said, as GPblog quoted his video.
Charles Leclerc and Ferrari losing hope on World Titles this season
According to Pete, “He (Charles) wasn’t relaxing, but at that point, he could just drive as he wanted without having to defend against Max.” There could be chances that Leclerc was building up a gap on Verstappen to make a pit and not lose much time, but at the end he just ended his race.
Pete also thinks that something like this wouldn’t happen with Max Verstappen, but not because he is Max Verstappen, but because the other driver in his team is Sergio Perez, and the constant pressure of comparing both the drivers is not present in the Scuderia as it is in Red Bull.
During the later stages in the race, Carlos Sainz made up enough places to finish on the podium, but a late call from the team’s garage for a late pit stop saw him finish only P5, behind Sergio Perez, another bad strategy. All of these events are lessening the chances of Ferrari winning the championship as the team stands 82 points behind Red Bull with 314 points. The gap between Leclerc and Verstappen has now increased from 38 points to 63 points.
