“That’s why I keep racing,” Fernando Alonso expresses desire to compete for yet another world championship

Fernando Alonso returned to F1 in 2021 with Alpine F1 Team, and showed an amazing performance while managing to score a podium in the 2021 Qatar GP.
The return wasn’t too bad for the Spaniard, and also in the 2022 season, Alpine have managed to stay a mid-field competitive car.
He performed amazing in the Spanish Grand Prix after finishing 9th; he started from P20 on the grid after an engine unit change.
No doubts, Alonso is an amazing driver behind the wheel, he also had an iconic rivalry with Sebastian Vettel while he was in a Ferrari.
Alonso is also won the World Championship twice with Renault in 2005 and 2006, after which he moved to McLaren.

After his return into Formula 1 last year, the end of 2022 season will also see the end of his contract with Alpine, and the Spaniard has revealed that he has plans to stay and race in Formula 1 even after this season.
There were speculations that Aston Martin could replace Sebastian Vettel for Alonso, but Alonso has different plans for himself.
Alpine is hardly a mid-field car, and still he managed to make it to the podium behind the championship contenders last year, which makes it obvious that he has the driving skill required.

Alonso believes he still has World Championship skills.

Fernando Alonso revealed to SkySports in an interview that he still carries the charisma to be a world champion again.
“That’s why I keep racing, you know?
“There is still always the hope that one year you will have the package and you will have the, you know, all things together to fight for the championship. I still feel competitive and I’m fast,” said Alosno, quoted by PlanetF1.
Alonso said that he would even agree to be the teammate of the no. 1 driver in a top team, as long as the team is competitive enough for catching other teams on the top.
“Yeah, sure,” he confirmed when asked if he would take on the challenge of being a teammate with an “alpha” driver.
“I think at the end of the day there are not many number one, two drivers in any team right now.“All the teams need both drivers to work together and to improve the car, especially with the new regulations.
“You still learn every lap you do and you have to work towards a better car, a better package. So let’s see what are the possibilities into the next few years.”
Fernando Alonso currently stands 15th with 4 points, after an amazing recovery drive in Spain.
Alpine stand 6th with 34 points in the constructors’.
