“The atmosphere in the team was not happy enough,” Fernando Alonso throws light on his days with Ferrari
Fernando Alonso, currently driving for Alpine, was once a competitor with Ferrari from 2010 to 2013. Ferrari aimed to be a world champion with the two-time world champion in the team. But all dreams were lost because they lost to Red Bull four times in a row.
Alonso wanted to win his third title and could have achieved it with Ferrari so he thought, but Sebastian Vettel had some other plans. The Spaniard came close twice to achieving his dream but felt short.
2010 was the first year for Alonso in Ferrari, he won the first race of the season in Bahrain and was all set for the championship. But had to fight for it later on. He won five races that season and five podiums. The championship went to the last race in Abu Dhabi, with four contenders for the championship Alonso was the likest to win. Unfortunately, he finished seventh and lost by just four points.

2012 was the closest Alonso came to winning the championship for Ferrari, but again lost to Seb this time by just two points in the last race. That season was one of the best we saw from the two-time world champion, but it was just the four-time world who was just a bit better. “We were very close a couple of times and those missed opportunities were quite heavy on the shoulders of everyone,” said Alonso.
After 2014 Alonso left the Italian team on bad terms he still had a few more years with them but wasn’t happy enough and said he isn’t regretting any of his decisions made back then. Marking it as the best for both parties. “I decided to stop the relationship there, even if I had two more years’ contract, because it was the best for both parties.” said the Alpine driver in conversation with BBC.
Fernando Alonso is still fighting for victories at Alpine
Alpine is currently P6 in the championship table with 26 points, with Alonso being unlucky, only scored 2 points this season. His teammate is currently outperforming him and is seven-position ahead of him.

Even though it’s a lot tougher for him to win it with Alpine he still has hopes to get wins and maybe his third title.
Alonso mentioned the unhappy moments he had with the Red team, “The atmosphere in the team was not happy enough at one moment and I decided to stop the relationship there.” He hopes to maintain the relationship he has with Alpine now.
