“The pressure is kind of off now,” Nico Rosberg reckons Ferrari has ‘nothing to lose’ due to recent bad run of form

It was considered to be Ferrari’s year of revival after more than a decade of finding itself in the midfield battle. There were positive signs during pre season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain, after both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz matched Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez stride for stride. The Ferrari duo was able to build on that momentum and put in impressive performances in the initial three races.
It was Red Bull, which was struggling to get the balance right and was on receiving end of the reliability concerns. Both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez had to lose out on a bunch of crucial championship points, in turn handing over the initiative to Ferrari. But, the tables seemed to have turned upside down in the last few races with Red Bull turning it around and Ferrari having to deal with its share of reliability concerns.
Spanish GP was the start of their struggles when Charles Leclerc, after establishing a commanding lead, was seen hobbling into the pits due to the failure of his turbo and MGU-H. When we thought this was a one-off, came along the disastrous Azerbaijan GP, which saw both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz retire out of the race due to different technical issues. This saw Ferrari fall way behind Red Bull in the championship fight.
Ferrari should attack Red Bull rather than playing it safe, suggests Nico Rosberg
Nico Rosberg is of the opinion that Ferrari should go on all out attack as they have nothing to lose. The former world champion said, “It’s kind of nothing to lose anymore. So just go for it and then see what can be maximised. Of course they need to get on top of their reliability issues but the pressure is kind of off a little bit now.”
“I mean, they were huge favourites after the first couple of races but now they’re so far behind. So you have nothing to lose. Go for it. Big push and let’s see what they can do.”
The Brit prefers Red Bull over Ferrari right now. “Maybe it’s not actually such an easy question, but feeling wise I do say Red Bull because recently it’s been the Ferrari not the Red Bull [that is breaking down], they’ve kind of got on top of their things,” he concluded.
Ferrari is definitely in a spot of bother as far as both the championship because while they struggle with their reliability issues, Red Bull’s juggernaut doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
