The “Schumacher” name: Christian Danner claims that all things point to Haas retaining Mick Schumacher for another season

Mick Schumacher‘s Formula 1 career is currently hanging in the balance after the son of the racing great Michael Schumacher debuted with Haas in 2021. As per the reports, the German has failed to convince the executives at Haas of his potential to bring points to the team, and hence the American outfit is not ready to renew his contract yet.

In the United States GP, Mick did display some good performance, but in the end, it was his teammate Kevin Magnussen who got into the P8 position, but ended up with P9 after losing the fierce last-lap battle with Sebastian Vettel. With a P14 finish and no points at yet another race, hopes are dimmed for Mick Schumacher since Haas is still not convinced if they should keep him alongside Kevin Magnussen for another year.

Now that there are only two races left to take place in this year’s F1 calendar, time is of essence for Mick Schumacher as he needs to show the team that there is credibility in renewing his contract for the upcoming season. Amidst all this, former F1 racer Christian Danner gave the opinion that chances are still inclined towards Mick Schumacher retaining the Haas seat for 2023.

While fans are sceptical about their chances of seeing Mick Schumacher once more on the F1 2023 grid after the confusion at Haas with respect to his contract renewal, F1 veteran Christian Danner believes Mick has got the deal in his bag already. According to Danner, Mick is backed by his uncle Ralf Schumacher, who might have a big hand in ensuring the seat at Haas goes to the young German.

On the other hand, when German RTL asked Mick Schumacher about his chances of remaining at Haas for the next season beings diminished after the no-points finish at Austin, he said, ”I think the team knows what I am capable of.

As the end of the current season is round the corner, it can be said with certainty that an announcement from Haas is just round the corner about which driver they are choosing for their 2023 campaign. While most of the signs point to Mick remaining as Kevin Magnussen, there is a chance that Nico Hulkenberg might join the American team next year in Schumacher’s place.
