Two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso had a decent run in Circuit Paul Ricard where he made his way to the sixth spot in his Alpine racecar. Starting seventh on the grid, Fernando Alonso made up a few places by going past Lando Norris and George Russell in the first few laps itself. But in the course of the race, Fernando failed to defend against the Mercedes of Russell, and thus he got his second top-six finish in the last three races.

Fernando Alonso has recently clocked in the most number of laps in F1 history, took a slight dig at many newcomers who have recently entered the F1 Championship, mostly from Formula 2 after attaining the super licence. In the words of the 40-year-old, he was quite satisfied with the pace of his car at the beginning and at the end of the race, and he feels that he earned his P6 position due to his sheer speed in Paul Ricard.

During the couse of the French Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso had a great race as it was his 345th start, and he was happy to finish in the top 6. He talked about his experience paying dividends at Circuit Paul Ricard as he said, “I did 350 races, so I know what I’m doing!”

Speaking of whether winning the sixth spot was a tiring job for him, Fernando Alonso said, “Not at all, and that’s probably why I’m in P6. I was faster at the beginning and also at the end. The young drivers are not well prepared.”

He also said, “The start was crucial, probably, to get ahead of Lando. I think [McLaren] have very similar pace, but to be in front of them in the first couple of laps was enough to control the race and to control the pace.”
