“There is always a lot of action,” Kevin Magnussen confident about a points finish in Baku
Kevin Magnussen
Kevin Magnussen returned to F1 this year after an exceptional start with Haas, the team has been performing better than they have even before, and Magnussen has performed good enough to gain the team 15 points, that is way more than they scored in the 2021 season (0). Though the car is now better and competitive, Haas are holding up any upgrades till the French Grand Prix in July, as team principal Guenther Steiner revealed earlier. This has made it difficult for the car to again catch up with the cars in front, and so, the team hasn’t scored any points in the last three races in Miami, Spain, and Monaco. This makes them stuck at Kevin’s 15 points, as Mick Schumacher is yet to score a point.

But as we are closing in towards the eighth race of the season at Baku, Azerbaijan, Kevin Magnussen has stated that he is confident about a points finish on the track. He stated that the engine power is of real importance on this track, and they have that in this year’s car, and he has “good chances” on the track.
Magnussen expects for yellow flags and safety cars
The cars this year are bigger than ever, and street circuits have a reputation of causing much carnage on the narrow tracks, which cause a safety car and a lot of yellow flags. Magnussen thinks that this would be of advantage to the team, as GPBlog quoted his words, “There is always a lot of action in Baku and the risk of yellow flags or a safety car is high. It always feels like there are more chances in Baku than in the average race.”
And so it is his thought that he can have a good finish in the race after more than a month of not scoring any points. Magnussen was fairly unprepared for this season as he was called very late to replace Nikita Mazepin in the team, but now he has caught up with the happenings; “I love it, I’m living my dream,” he said.
