“They think they can’t hide the truth, but it will slowly come out,” Fans react as Michael Masi reveals signing NDA with FIA for Abu Dhabi GP fiasco
Michael Masi
Disgraced F1 Race Director Michael Masi, who recently quit the Internation Federation of Automobile or the FiA only a few weeks ago, has now revealed some explosive information in an all-laid-bare interview with an Australian daily. During the interview, he talked about the difficult decision that he had to take during that much-discussed finale of the Formula 1 2021 season and he also disclosed some key details about signing a Non-disclosure Agreement with the FIA regarding the incident.
Just before the news broke out that Michael Masi was exiting from the FiA and would relocate to Australia to spend time with his family, the President of the FiA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem had claimed that he could see Masi returning to his position at the head of the authoritative body of F1 in future because what he had done was a “human error”. But the mistake had cost Lewis Hamilton a potential record-breaking eighth World Champion and thus, Mercedes called for immediate sacking of Masi as an appropriate measure.
Now, Michael Masi has said that the FiA was fully aware of the repercussions that his judgement had led to and they made him sign a contract so that he would not spill the details that would harm their organisation.

Michael Masi claims an NDA is in place to prevent him from talking about the Abu Dhabi 2021 race
The former F1 race director Michael Masi talked about the afte-effect that arose from his flawed decision to let the lapped cars unlap themselves at the end of the Abu Dhabi race in 2021. That Grand Prix later decided the World Championship title of that season. And, since Masi’s judgement heavily influenced who the Championship winner would be, many people gave the opinion that it was all set up from before and that Masi is a corrupt officer.
While recollecting the terrible death threats that Michael Masi got from the enraged F1 fans and how it was a tough time for him and his family, the Australian said he had signed a non-disclosure agreement with the FIA which prevents him from discussing the decision to only allow a portion of the drivers to un-lap themselves.
They think they can hide the truth, but it will slowly come out. @Ben_Sulayem – your legacy started with this. You could’ve chosen to end the era of secret deals and NDAs, but chose to go all in and double down.
