Christian Horner and Red Bull had a weekend to cherish which saw them get a stranglehold on both the championships as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez registered their second 1-2 of the season after Imola. The weekend became sweeter after Ferrari suffered two DNFs. Carlos Sainz’s race came to an end after facing a hydraulic issue and Charles Leclerc was seen limping into the garage after facing a engine issue.

It was later of confirmed that Charles Leclerc’s internal combustion engine and turbo had been destroyed after than blowout. Second DNF in three races has left him 34 points behind Max Verstappen and now he also trails his team mate, Sergio Perez, by 7 points. After a tremendous qualifying session, it seemed like Ferrari had pulled themselves right into the mix but it all came crashing down on race day.

We are just 8 races into the season and Ferrari already trails Red Bull by a whopping 80 points. The flip side of this situation that there are still 14 races left to which gives them enough time to turn it around. But, the problems are mounting for them as Charles Leclerc has already used 3 turbos and another new one shall hand him a 10-place grid penalty. This is something which the Italian Giants can ill-afford.

But, Christian Horner doesn’t want to ease off as he expects a fightback from Ferrari in the coming races. Red Bull Team Principal said, “They will sort their problems out. I’ve got no doubts about that. But inevitably, I guess it means that there’ll be penalties further down the year in the back end of the year.”

“Of course, there is a long, long way for this championship to play out. We’ve seen big swings in points over the last four or five races, and it just shows how quickly things can turn around.

“I think on a Sunday, we’ve been equal to them at pretty much every race that we’ve been to this year. And I think that was the case again [in Baku] from what we can see in the early laps,” as reported by motorsport.

Christian Horner and Red Bull find themselves in a pretty comfortable situation as of now but can take the foot away from the gas keeping in mind the unpredictability of F1. Therefore, it’s important for Red Bull to build on this momentum.
