“This guy beats off to a Max Verstappen poster!” F1 twitter reacts Max Verstappen missing out on ESPY “Best Driver” award to NASCAR champion Kyle Larson

Max Verstappen and Kyle Larson
Max Verstappen shared a brilliant championship battle Lewis Hamilton and eventually pipped the seven time world champion in the season finale in Abu Dhabi. The Dutchman had a total of 9 wins as went into the last race of the season but still was tied on points with Lewis Hamilton. Therefore, it was a do or die race for the two protagonists, who were desperate for a win.
Lewis Hamilton was chasing that historic eighth world championship whereas Max was after his maiden world championship. It was pretty evident that Lewis had the better car but Max just found a way to beat him with his aggressive driving style. Although the championship was decided in controversial circumstances, nobody could argue how impressive Max was.
This definitely had put him in pole position to win the ESPY “best driver” award but he missed out on it by a whisker. The reigning F1 world champion lost the award to NASCAR world champion, Kyle Larson, who defeated the likes of Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Chase Elliott with 10 wins in a season, which was last done by Jimmie Johnson in 2007.

Twitter has erupted after this news broke on social media. The fans have had their say. Some of the tweets include: “Kyle Larson had to fight to become champion, Max had his handed to him on a silver platter.”
“Ironic you say F1 is in its own world when F1 actually travels the world and a guy like Kyle Larson never leaves his own country. Man raced in sports cars but did it in Daytona.”
“This guy beats off to a Max Verstappen poster!“
“Because he was winning a race as the award was handed out. Throw max in a midget, wing sprint, dirt late model and you have a wadded up race car.“
The criticism handed out to Max Verstappen is definitely harsh as he was brilliant throughout the season just like Kyle Larson. It could have gone either ways.
