‘Title aspirations ruined’: F1 journalist blames Charles Leclerc for ‘self-destroying’ his title chances

Charles Leclerc
Charles Leclerc has had the most ups and downs until now in this season. He was the leader in the championship battle at a point of time, but after the many mistakes and errors by Ferrari, he has dropped down 63 points behind Max Verstappen in the standings, but is still in 2nd. During the French Grand Prix as well, he was leading the race for 17 complete laps, but during the 18th lap, he crashed in an unbelievable way, retiring from the race. His voice in the radio message was reflecting his rage.
The crash was thought to be a technical error with the car, because the team has been facing the same all season long. During the Austrian Grand Prix, after Carlos Sainz retired due to an engine failure, Leclerc started to complain about his throttle, as it was not going to 0%, making it hard for him to slow his car down. After his crash at Paul Ricard, he shouted something about the throttle, and it was thought that he had a similar issue this time as well. But it was only during his interview, he revealed that his car had no such issue, he wasn’t able to use the throttle after the crash.
He took the entire crash’s responsibility on him, and it was a silly crash for a driver like him.
F1 journalist thinks that Charles Leclerc’s crash was different

David Tremayne, a Formula 1 journalist, thinks that Leclerc has destroyed his championship chances by himself after crashing in France like that; “That the red car stopped in an unexpected way, nose-first into the tyres in the wonderful Le Beausset 180-degree right-hander, after Charles had lost the back end and spun,” GPblog quoted.
Even though Ferrari still has the superior vehicle, Leclerc has repeatedly failed to damage Verstappen. He missed his chance to narrow the gap in France and is now 63 points behind the Dutchman.
