Things have been stirring a lot in the paddock as the ultimate race of the season is around the corner. Christian Horner had recently claimed that an agent of Lewis Hamilton approached him to join Red Bull before confirming his position within Mercedes. However, Toto Wolff has now slammed these comments from Horner.
The Mercedes team boss was offended by these comments from Horner as Hamilton is the golden boy of Mercedes who has won six championship titles under Wolff’s leadership. Hence, Wolff claimed that he didn’t understand what drove Horner to make such claims and how he came up with them.
I just don’t know what drives the guy. We just don’t understand his thinking to come up with these things. I don’t know what drives him to come out with this.Wolff said, as reported by Speedcafe.com
The 51-year-old boss also explained the entire situation from Hamilton’s point-of-view and insisted that Horner was the one who contacted Hamilton’s agency to gain some contact access to contact Lewis for the contract within Red Bull. Wolff finally exclaimed that it was Horner enquiring about Hamilton and not the other way around as commented by Horner earlier.
What happened is that Christian, through an agency that we work with, wanted to have Lewis’ contact details to speak about the seat. That’s how the whole thing went. It was Christian enquiring about Lewis’ availability.

Following Horner’s comment, Hamilton was quick to respond to these bold claims from the Red Bull boss. Hamilton resonated with what Wolff claimed and further added that it was Horner who contacted Hamilton on his old phone and hence he couldn’t respond within time. He further negated any potential talks with Horner about the same.
Hamilton also confirmed that neither he nor someone on his behalf had contacted Horner for any sort of talks about joining Red Bull for the next season. The 38-year-old driver also finally claimed that these statements from Horner were completely false and made up by him. He renounced the fact that no one contacted Horner for his position in Red Bull.
Hence, it seems that things might not be going too well for the British boss as he has been called out by multiple people on the grid. However, following these comments from Hamilton and Wolff, Horner has yet to speak out publicly about his bygone comments and make another claim regarding the status quo.
