Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes Formula 1 driver, has not had the car to fight for the coveted F1 world championship since 2021. It has been nothing short of a struggle but amidst all his woes, Mercedes’s boss, Toto Wolff has claimed that Hamilton can once again fight for the title, given, that Mercedes provides him with a potent car.
The dawn of the new era of the pinnacle of motor racing began in 2022, and since then, the Mercedes F1 team has not been able to produce title-worthy challengers. This is currently the biggest Achilles heel that Lewis Hamilton has got to deal with at the Brackley-based team.
Hamilton is hoping for a strong car in 2024 and while the Brit is staying as positive as he can be, Toto Wolff has backed him to fight for the F1 title once again. While talking about Hamilton in Abu Dhabi, Wolff said, as reported by RaceFans;
If we are able to give him a car, he will be fighting for a world championship, I have no doubt.
Looking at the comments of the 51-year-old, it is quite clear that he has no doubts about the abilities of Lewis Hamilton as a Formula 1 racing driver. Moreover, has indicated that the onus is on Mercedes to provide him with a title-worthy car in the upcoming years of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton feels Red Bull will continue its dominance in 2024
While Toto Wolff has backed his driver to win the F1 world championship again, Lewis Hamilton, during the Abu Dhabi GP weekend, has made it known that he is fearful of seeing Red Bull dominating the sport again in 2024. He believes that it is too much of a task for the rival teams to bridge the gap with Red Bull.
Lewis Hamilton, despite his best efforts during the 2023 F1 season, was only able to manage 234 points and was also only able to see himself on the podium a mere six times. However, Hamilton was able to keep the upper hand on his teammate, George Russell for the most part this year.
