Lewis Hamilton’s career with Mercedes is unparalleled in terms of statistics, as the Briton has won six World Championships and 82 races with the Brackley-based team. Although he has suffered some setbacks in recent years, Hamilton is determined to improve results starting in 2024.

Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes, has also provided his optimism about Hamilton’s talent. The Austrian team boss claims that the reason Hamilton was able to break all the records that he has is due to his unwavering confidence and the quality of his ability. He also admitted that he owes the Mercedes drivers a championship-worthy car and they are confident about developing it.

Toto Wolff manages 2024 expectations despite Lewis Hamilton’s enthusiasm

The last time Mercedes won both driver and constructor titles was four years ago in 2020. Ever since, the British outfit has suffered various setbacks beginning with the controversial 2021 championship loss. The team also managed to win only a single race in the past two years, with none in 2023.

Mercedes has promising chances with the W15 that they have revealed to be completely revamped from their previous challenger. Lewis Hamilton asserted the same after testing it in the simulator. However, team principal Toto Wolff is managing his expectations, as the team had also been optimistic for the past two years which did not provide results.

He was driving Melbourne [in the sim]. And he said: ‘The car feels like a car for the first time in two years… Obviously I would love this to correlate to the track, but we’ve seen in the last two years that this was not always the case.

Wolff has led the team for over a decade now, joining the team right before its period of dominance that lasted seven whole years. Now, Mercedes is looking for a return to glory with a new vehicle to dethrone Red Bull.
