Toto Wolff lands in TROUBLE with the FIA as they place him and his wife Susie under investigation

The Formula 1 2023 season might be over now, but the drama is not going to leave the F1 town anytime soon. Right when the Championship was nearing its end with the finale being held at the middle-eastern country of Abu Dhabi, some intriguing news made rounds. Reports claimed that Red Bull’s Christian Horner has mentioned Lewis Hamilton approaching the team for a seat earlier in 2023 due to Mercedes‘ dismal performance the previous year. And now that those discussions have died down, new reports have emerged. And this time, it is Toto Wolff and his wife Susie who are in the spotlight.
Austrian banker-team-manager Toto Wolff and his racer wife Susie Wolff is often regarded as the power couple of the motorsports world. While Toto heads Mercedes, one of the strongest and most resourceful F1 teams with a record of eight consecutive Constructors’ World Championship wins, Susie is presently the Boss of the F1 Academy series for women racers. The two of them certainly wield a lot of power when it comes to Formula One, but they should not be privy to information accessed only by the Formula One Management members during their confidential discussions.
Now, an incendiary report by the BusinessF1 magazine has boldly claimed that Toto Wolff has made a certain remark at a recent conference which could only have been made by him if he were informed of the FOM’s private proceedings. They have concluded that Toto has eyes and ears inside the FOM headquarters which have led him to know about the activities of the Formula One Management. And the report also insinuated that Susie Wolff is in on some vital information too.
Rival teams are still silent despite reports on Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff’s fishy behaviour
As one of the most successful couples in all of motorsports, it is no surprise that Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff have friends in all the high places. Yet, they are not a part of the Formula One Management as Toto is employee under one of the teams participating in Formula One while Susie is associated with an entirely different series–the F1 Academy. Thus, their being involved in the private proceedings of the FOM is a major conflict of interests. Still, there has been no protest from the rival teams as of yet.
Autosport.com reports that there have been no complaints or even reports from the rival teams regarding the sudden allegations against Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff. But they have also mentioned that lobbying is already being done to get the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem involved in the case so that they arrange for a committee to look further into this matter. And thus, the FIA Compliance department are going to sniff out of there was any way in which the Wolffs were getting information from the inner quarters of the FIA.
In other news, Toto Wolff appeared at the Autosport Awards for 2023 where he teased the idea Mercedes are chasing for their new car for next season. He said they will be traveling a more conventional path since their ‘bold’ approach has not yielded the desired results over the last two years. Mercedes even ended their run in the recently-ended season without a single Grand Prix wins from either of their drivers but now, they target a much better form come 2024.
