“Treated it like a 9-5 job” – Alex Albon sheds light on “tricky” recovery following appendicitis surgery

Williams Racing driver Alex Albon

The 2022 F1 season has been good for Alex Albon having scored a total of 4 points for the Williams team so far. His performance on the grid has been impressive despite not having a race-winning car this season. He is both praised and respected by the fans and drivers on the grid who believe that he deserves to be in a race-winning car, competing for championships.

Recently, Albon had to drop out of the Italian Grand Prix, as he was admitted to the hospital in order to undergo a much-needed appendicitis surgery that rendered him unable to race. He was replaced by Nyck De Vries for the duration of this race who performed admirably and scored 2 points for the team.

Currently, Alex Albon is 19th in the driver standings and could climb up the ranks faster, based on his performance in the next race. Recently, Albon announced that he will be participating in the Singapore Grand Prix and based on his performance he has a chance to move up the leaderboard very quickly. He is only 1 point behind Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and 2 points behind the Alfa Romeo rookie Zhou Guanyu and a good race finish at Singapore could help him overtake both of them.

Alex Albon had to opt out of the Italian Grand Prix, as he was admitted to the hospital in order to undergo an important appendicitis surgery. Many fans and drivers wished him a speedy recovery and hoped to see him on the grid for the next race at the Singapore Grand Prix. Albon recently appeared in an interview with Sky Sports F1 talking about his road to recovery.

He described his recovery process as ‘tricky’ and said, “It was more of a bed recovery, to begin with. It is quite a tricky one as you are lying there waiting for your lungs to recover and at the same time your body can’t move as well as it normally can.”

Albon tried to speed up his recovery, speaking about which he said, “We already started to push it and see what we can do. Treated it more like a 9-5 job really,” he continued saying, “We got to a point where recovery was going really well.”

He is looking forward to a difficult race at the Singapore Grand Prix and is confident that he will be able to race to the best of his abilities in the coming few days, but his condition will only be determined after his performance in FP1.
