Carlos Sainz returned to the grid for the Australian GP after recovering from appendicitis. The Spanish driver surprised everyone by securing a front row slot for the race. Sainz even managed to overtake Max Verstappen in the opening stages of the Grand Prix. Ultimately, the 29-year-old crossed the chequered flag to win the race after a brilliant drive.

Max Verstappen was forced to retire from the race after a mechanical failure. This allowed Carlos Sainz to take control of the Grand Prix and extend his lead to the rest of the field. Unsurprisingly, the 29-year-old continued his incredible form from the season-opener in Bahrain and won the race.

Carlos Sainz decided to celebrate his victory with his favorite song ‘Smooth Operator.’ The 29-year-old has become synonymous with this song ever since his McLaren days. The Spanish driver congratulated the Italian team for this stellar win. Moreover, Sainz’s teammate Charles Leclerc finished in P2, securing the Scuderia a 1-2 finish.

Carlos Sainz thrilled after Ferrari secure 1-2 finish at the Australian GP

Ferrari had expected to be close to Red Bull this weekend. Subsequently, Carlos Sainz was in prime position to win the race after Max Verstappen’s retirement. The Spanish driver gained a decent lead ahead of Charles Leclerc and the two McLarens. Sainz was even voted the Driver of the Day by fans for his impressive performance.

The 29-year-old mentioned that it was a great race. Moreover, Sainz claimed that he felt good out on the track. However, the Spanish driver admitted that it wasn’t easy for. Nevertheless, Carlos Sainz was able to manage his pace courtesy of the gap behind the rest of the field. The race-winner was delighted that Ferrari’s hard work paid off with this 1-2 result.

It was a really good race. I felt good out there. It wasn't the easiest out there, but I was out there on my own so I could manage my pace. I am very happy for th team and to have this 1-2 with Charles with all the hard work.
