The Mexican GP weekend is underway. The street circuit has proved to be a challenging track for drivers in the past. McLaren had been on the backfoot compared to rivals since Friday. Things have only gone worse for the Woking-based team in Qualifying. Lando Norris failed to make it out of the first Qualifying session.
The British driver was forced to abort two runs during Q1. Moreover, Fernando Alonso spun out and brought up a yellow flag during the ending stages of the session. This forced Lando Norris to give up on his final attempt. Subsequently, the McLaren could not put in a decent lap time and finished P19 in the session.
After the session, Norris was far from happy. The 23-year-old quickly got out of the MCL60 and his frustration was evident. The British driver angrily took off his race suit in the McLaren garage and went to talk to the engineers. Certainly, Lando Norris would not have expected things to get off to a bad start before the race on Sunday.
The big surprise of the day is that Lando didn't make it to Q2!#MexicoGP #F1 #Formula1 #McLaren #Norris

The user wrote, “CRYING SESSION AT MY HOUSE PULL UP.” While another fan claimed that McLaren took too big of a gamble by sending the Briton out on a late run. The fan replied, “Shock exit. Left it too late to set a lap time.”
On the other hand, one fan reckoned that Lando Norris was simply trying to make local hero Sergio Perez look good at the Mexican GP. The fan commented, “Bros making Checo look good.” While another user claimed that Norris was the fastest driver to get knocked out in Q1. The user said, “Better call the Guinness World Records because we have a new ‘Fastest Q1 Exit’ champion!”

Certainly, Lando Norris would be furious with his result in Qualifying. The British driver would be looking to turn things around in Sunday’s race. On the other hand, Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri has continued to deliver during the session. As such, it remains to be seen if Norris could match his teammate in the remainder of the weekend.
