WATCH: Irish band U2’s lead singer Bono sets the Las Vegas GP stage on fire with an awkward promo
Irish band U2 had their lead singer Bono belt out some popular tunes ahead of the Las Vegas GP in a promotional campaign.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is right around the corner and fans simply cannot keep calm. All through the year, the anticipation had been building up for the biggest and most expensive F1 race in the history of the sport. Now that it is only a week away, the festivities have already kicked off to hail the enormous spectacle on the famous Vegas Strip. And Irish band U2 were the first ones to do a promotional event to propel the news about the Las Vegas GP, with their lead singer Bono doing an awkward act that has gone viral on social media.
The Las Vegas GP will mark the 21st round of racing in this year’s F1 race. It will be the first Grand Prix held on a 3.8 mile circuit at the Vegas Strip with all the different teams giving their last-ditch efforts to score the most points to end their season on a high. And it is also expected that the race at the entertainment capital of America will see several high-profile celebrities in attendance such as Hollywood actors, business moghuls, and sports stars.
To spread the word about the Las Vegas GP even further, the Formula One Management have decided to do some promo shows. The first one had U2 belting out their world-famous songs for the fans at the Las Vegas Sphere. While introducing his badmates, Bono took up quite a weird approach that fans have found to be quite curious.
On the drums, Max Verstappen! On the bass, the most elegant man on the circuit. Who is it? Lewis Hamilton on the bass! And on guitar, the Monaco model himself, Charles Leclerc. And I am the right person to bring peace between Formula 1 and NASCAR! On vocals, Daniel Ricciardo.
Bono believes Formula One is a sport where ‘drivers climb onto rockets’
With the F1 fever having struck Las Vegas in full force, the anticipation of the fans for the upcomming Grand Prix is almost palpable. And to add to the hype, U2 singer Bono introduced their fans to Formula One in a very unique way. The Irish singer almost equated the sport to a space mission.
(Formula 1 is a sport where drivers) climb onto rockets and try to stay on Earth and not achieve orbit.
The Las Vegas GP will be a complete show in itself. As of now, the teams have not revealed their special liveries for the event but it is well expected that they will be coming up in the next few days. The shows which will be held during the Grand Prix weekend will feature a massive line-up of international stars like J Balvin, Mark Ronson, and Major Lazer.
The Las Vegas GP is expected to have some good actions as there are 13 interesting corners and 2 straight speed portions on the track. This will favor the cars such as McLaren’s MCL60 which have huge straight-line speed. Overall, some good racing is expected to take place at the Las Vegas GP and it remains to be seen which driver clinches the top spot at the first-ever race on the Vegas Strip.
