The British Grand Prix in Silverstone commences shortly. It’s bound to be an exciting race, with the potential of another Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen battle, but this time, Carlos Sainz is also in the mix. The Spaniard took pole position in wet qualifying yesterday for the first time in his career.

Silverstone is also the home race for three drivers on the Formula 1 paddock: Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell. While it is unlikely that any of them may achieve a first victory of the season, a solid haul of points will be much welcome, especially for Lando Norris, who had a frustrating race last time out in Montreal.

The highest starter of the three will be Lewis Hamilton, who will start 5th. Lando Norris will start 6th, while George Russell starts two places behind in 8th place. Perhaps they can use the power of the crowd to uplift their performance. The drivers are certainly loving it, as was made clear during the Build-up and Drivers Parade before the race.

While being interviewed by Sky Sports’ Natalie Pinkham, Lando Norris was incredibly pleased by the support from the crowd. Norris said: “I’m loving it (the support), I’m just soaking it all in.” On being asked what it was like to drive in front of his home crowd, Norris responded:

“The thing is, you genuinely look up to the crowd every single lap. So the more that they’re cheering me on, the more they are jumping up and down, the faster I’ll drive.” Norris was wearing a Great Britain bucket hat while giving the interview.

Upon being asked about his qualifying performance and his aim for the race, Norris did not have time to respond, as Lewis Hamilton arrived on the scene and stole his bucket hat from him, putting it on his own head. When asked about how he was feeling, Hamilton responded: “I’m great.” and then waved to the crowd.

Following this, Norris joked: “He’s [Hamilton] jealous of the bucket hat. He doesn’t have my kind of style.” Norris then thanked the crowd for coming out in his support and finally answered the question: “My aim is to win.” Norris then spent some time taking in the crowd’s support before leaving to continue on his way.
