Max Verstappen, the man, the myth, the legend!! These are the phrases that would do some justice to the kind of F1 season he has had so far this year. Verstappen has been breaking records left and right, and with his recent triumph in Brazil, he has broken a record that has stood since 1952.
At the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix, over the team radio, Max Verstappen was made aware by his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, that he had broken Alberto Ascari’s 1952 F1 record. Ascari held the record for the most percentage wins in a season until Verstappen’s recent triumph at Interlagos.
Lambiase came onto the radio, and his and the Dutchman’s conversation went like this:
Lambiase: Max I'll let you in to a little secret. If my math is right, I think you have just overtaken Ascari, that's a record from 1952 mate. In terms of percentage wins in a season.
Verstappen: Yeah! we did that. We all did that. Lambiase: Yeah, another historic one.

Looking at the reaction of the reigning world champion, it is quite clear that he is immensely pleased with breaking the long-standing record. Moreover, has shown gratitude toward his teammates by indicating that the ongoing 2023 campaign has been a total team effort.
Max Verstappen has been nothing short of sensational this year
While Max Verstappen has been dominating the pinnacle of motor racing since his first world championship triumph, he has taken his dominance to a new level, especially this year. None of his rivals have been able to come close to him in any aspect; even his teammate, Sergio Perez, has found it extremely tough to hang with him.
As things stand, Verstappen has managed to amass a brilliant 17 Grand Prix wins out of the 20 that have taken place so far. When it comes to his points tally, it is also off the charts as well; he is currently sitting handsomely at the top of the pile with a monstrous 524 points to his name.
Let’s go!!! What a great performance! This is another amazing day for us as a team @redbullracing ? and a pretty nice way to celebrate the win ??

His nearest rival in the standings is nowhere near in his vicinity. The ongoing campaign has only two races remaining on the calendar, and Max Verstappen would be eyeing a clean sweep in the two. The highly anticipated Las Vegas GP is one event where Verstappen wants to secure a win.
