“We can combine the races regionally,” Guenther Steiner expects a shake up in F1’s calendar from 2023

Guenther Steiner has been quite vocal about his opinions regarding the decisions taken by F1 recently. Whether it’s the budget cap, salary cap or the organization of the F1 calendar, the German has not shied away from speaking his mind. F1 has been constantly trying to make this sport more environment friendly and therefore is trying to cut down on all activities which do are not sync with this initiative.

The governing body has pledged to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030 and has been making decisions to match it with their actions. While this sounds ambitious to achieve in such a small period of time but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Another thing that been on the agenda lately has been the regionalization of the races which would save the teams from all those logistical hazards.

Guenther Steiner has been supportive of this move as this would help the team save a lot of money to travel back and forth. The budget cap has already made it difficult to bring in upgrades and the teams have also been hit hard by the impact of inflation and increase in freight charges. Haas has already spent a lot of money on repairs as Mick Schumacher has been involved in two huge accidents.

Guenther Steiner would take any help from the FIA keeping in mind how accident prone their drivers has been. In support of the decision, he said, “The challenges are that you go from one continent to another, it’s a long trip and the team is working hard to get it all done.”

“It’s just down to having a good team around and working hard but it’s a challenge as they only have a few days to get set-up again and get going again for the next race.”

On the plans for next season, it would be great if we can combine the races regionally. I know that Stefano [Domenicali] is working very hard on that one and will go the right direction next year,” as reported by gpfans.

Haas Team Principal, Guenther Steiner, is definitely spot on when he talks about the regionalization of races as that causes a lot of unnecessary problems. This can be avoided and should be done as soon as possible.
