Guenther Steiner and Daniel Ricciardo

Guenther Steiner and Daniel Ricciardo do have one thing in common. It is none other than the level of popularity they have in Netflix’s Drive To Survive series. When the show was released for the first time on 8th March 2019, fans were in awe of Daniel and Guenther mainly due to their unique personalities. However, this might come to an end now that the ‘Honey Badger’ won’t be a part of the series for the next season.

Daniel Ricciardo struggled all year as he pushed to get good results with the McLaren. After both the parties decided that the partnership wasn’t working, the team parted ways with the Aussie driver. Instead, they hired another Aussie named Oscar Piastri who came to the team after leaving Alpine in the mud. Nevertheless, Daniel was faced with a problem that he never had to face in F1 at least.

With most of the seats being occupied for the 2023 F1 season, Daniel Ricciardo asked around everywhere. While there were tensions flaring at Haas over Mick Schumacher, Daniel found the opportunity where he would be considered as his replacement. However, contract talks never went fully ahead due to the sheer amount that the Honey Badger demanded per year from the lower midfield team.

When asked about his plans about hiring Ricciardo by Kevin, Guenther says that he is ‘10 fu*king million minimum’ The Haas team boss explains to Kevin that the team cannot afford a driver like Daniel.

As of 2023, Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren have parted ways. It is a bit weird to see a driver of Daniel’s calibre struggling so hard to survive in the pinnacle of motorsport. While he does not have a seat of next year, all hope isn’t lost as the Aussie will be a Red Bull Third Driver for the 2023 F1 season. This will give him time to learn and adapt while possibly getting another shot in the upcoming years.
