Tha initial stages of the Japanese GP were run under treacherous conditions where Pierre Gasly was seen going past a crane that came out of nowhere to get Carlos Sainz’s wrecked car out of the way, moreover, the incident was extremely dangerous and F1 drivers have confirmed that it was discussed at length on their personal Whatsapp group chat.

The F1 drivers are not at all pleased with how the situation was handled as they are well aware of what happened to Jules Bianchi at the same place in 2014.

The irresponsible behavior of the personnel at the trackside has come under the radar of the F1 community and many have bashed them for letting a crane on track without F1 drivers knowing about it.

Pierre Gasly, after starting from the pitlane, was not fully aware of what was going around him and under Red Flag was going at a slightly faster pace, the visibility was extremely bad and for going over the prescribed limit, the Frenchman was given a 20-second penalty and 2 points on his Super License.

The F1 driver’s Whatsapp group was buzzing with a barrage of texts after the Crane incident and Daniel Ricciardo while talking about it, said, “Yes, I saw a lot of messages they sent, it was when he taught me, I think from Gasly’s onboard, so yeah [we talked].”

George Russell also talked about the unfortunate situation and said, “I think we talked about it a little bit in the drivers briefing this week, because there was an extraction vehicle on the track in Singapore with the Tsunoda accident during a safety car, and it was at the time that people were doing the change to dry tires.”

We’ve already expressed our opinion that we don’t want that to ever happen. That was last week, and coming here a week later, with the circumstances and the history [in reference to Bianchi’s accident], it’s quite disappointing.”

Moreover, Lando Norris to let his frustration known took to Twitter after the incident and wrote, “What the f***. How did this happen!? We lost a life in this situation years ago. We risk our lives, especially in conditions like this. We want to run. But this is… Unacceptable.”

While most of the drivers were busy on their phones after the incident, people like Sergio Perez talked about the situation to the media and added, “Today is the lowest point in the sport that we have seen in years. What happened today makes me very angry, just I hope we will never see this situation again because it is putting all the drivers in danger.”

We already saw what happened a few years ago here with our friend Jules [Bianchi]. I don’t care why it happened, but it should never happen again, in any category.

Sergio Perez has bashed the administration at the Suzuka International Racing Course and he is 100 percent right in doing so. F1 drivers are the ones who are putting their lives in danger every time they get into the cockpit of their cars and they should be aware, all the time, as to what is going on the track.
