“We have arranged for a psychologist,” Helmut Marko decides to help out ‘problem child’, Yuki Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda and Helmut Marko
Yuki Tsunoda has been known for his baby faced aggression ever since he made a debut in F1. We know that the Japanese driver has enough talent to excel but he also needs to control his temper because it violent eruptions over the radio hurt the team as well. Franz Tost had also admitted to the fact that his temperament can prove to be a blockade in his progress as a F1 driver.
The AlphaTauri boss had even sent him to Milton Keynes so that he could work upon himself and come out as better driver. It was a difficult little stint for him as he hated to train and work on someone’s commands. But, one thing that impressed everyone was his willingness to change despite him not liking the process. The Japanese sensation worked on his fitness to bounce back from the setback.
But, one thing that he has not been able to get on top of, is his aggressive nature. We still hear him conveying fiery messages on the radio which inhibits his performance and brings the morale of the team down as well. Helmut Marko feels that enough is enough and something needs to be done. He even compared him to Max Verstappen and feels that he is more aggressive than him.

Helmut Marko arranges a psychologist for the aggressive Yuki Tsunoda

Helmut Marko believes that Yuki Tsunoda will become a talent which went down the drain if something is not done. In one of his recent interviews, he said, “Thank God our Max [Verstappen] is calm. Our problem child is Tsunoda.”
“We specially organised a kind of psychologist to work with him, because he kept swearing in the corners. So that inhibits the performance.”
“Tsunoda does seem to have made a step forward in 2022 compared to his rookie season in 2021, there are still more gains to be made,” as reported by gpblog.
We have had a lot of talented young drivers come and go in F1. Yuki Tsunoda needs to understand that if that talent is not blended with good decision making and hard work, it will amount to nothing.
