“We have found several directions,” Toto Wolff confirms multiple paths to experiment with ahead of the Miami GP

Mercedes, at the moment, has its foot in two places. One is with George Russell, near the second row, pushing the W13 to the absolute limit and finishing top 5 in every race of this season. While the other is with the 7x world champion, Lewis Hamilton, in the midfield, struggling for any point.

The main issue that has been a challenge leading to this has been porpoising. As each race seems to be passing, Mercedes believes they’re getting closer to resolving the issue. And now, their team principal, Toto Wolff, claims the team has several directions to proceed with after the Imola GP.

As quoted by The Race.com, he said, “We have found several directions for improving the car, and we will be conducting experiments in Miami to correlate those simulations, and hopefully, confirm the development path for the coming races,” as a significant nerve might get struck through experiment, that may benefit them for the remaining 18 races of the season.

How has the morale been affected in Mercedes camp according to Toto Wolff?

When you go from winning eight constructors’ titles to midfield in a single season, you’re bound to take a hit. And same does appear to have happened at the Brackley-based outfit. Arguments have been reported between the drivers and the management, but Toto Wolff believes things are strong in the camp.

He said, “The saying ‘smooth seas do not make good sailors’ comes to mind. This team has shown its resilience over many years and the difficult start to this season has lit a fire within every team member, determined to put it right,” displaying signs of high morale in the factory.

As Mercedes is expected to receive significant parts from the factory, major updates are expected. And even if the updates are small, they shall be done to decide a path for the team to proceed on for the future development.
