“We’re clearly closing the gap,” Lewis Hamilton continues to be more optimistic as Mercedes secures another double podium in Hungary
Lewis Hamilton seems to get hold of the car after finishing P2 for the second consecutive time. Hamilton seemed the fastest car around the track in the final laps of the race. Lewis had a promising pace to challenge for the win but he struggled on the starting laps of the race. However, he managed to get back the grip with the car and took hold of the podium places. Mercedes managed another double podium with George Russell finishing P3 after starting from the pole.
Lewis Hamilton started P7 after having troubles with his DRS on Saturday. He was strongly in contention for a Pole but missed out on it with a non-working DRS. Hamilton was surely looking at a front-row start nothing less if things would have been in place. But anyhow he managed to recover from the damages after a fantastic podium finish on the main day. The seven-time world champion thanked his team for the jump on the podium and sees improved results after a lot of work done by his team on the car.
“I was struggling at the start of the race and wasn’t sure I could catch the guys up. I want to acknowledge my team that continues to push and not give up. For both cars to be on the podium twice is special for us,” said Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis came out to speak about a chance on Max Verstappen if the rain poured down as it was predicted.
“I was hoping it would rain at the end, so I could challenge Max. But we ran out of laps. Would have been a better qualifying if DRS was okay yesterday and we’d have been in the run for the win,” Lewis sought for the win.

Lewis Hamilton hopes to get back on the top after the Summer break
As the Summer breaks now begin, Lewis hopes to get back on the winning ways as it used to be before the 2022 season. Yesterday, George Russell showed a ray of light on a Mercedes comeback and this could be marked true if Mercedes keep on working the same way.
“Unlucky for George. Others guys still have an edge but we’re clearly closing the gap. This is an amazing way to go into the break. Hopefully, we bring some more in the second part of the season and start fighting with the guys at the front,” he added.
Mercedes are now just 30 points off from Ferrari and could target that place if they continue with the same result consistently. The gap still looks a bit of a concern but the Silver Arrows are recovering.
