Lewis Hamilton lost out on getting an eighth world title last year as Max Verstappen managed to beat him to claim the top step and win his maiden world championship . A few days later, the 7 time world champion was dubbed a knight by the Prince of Wales during the Windsor Castle investiture ceremony on Wednesday. Lewis’s mother, Carmen Lockhart was also present at the ceremony with whom he clicked a lot of pictures.

There were all smiles that day after what was the greatest honour that the British driver received for his achievements in motorsports. Lewis Hamilton is no stranger to British Royalty.

The Mercedes driver has also met the Queen multiple times. In 2009, the then young gun was presented with an MBE by Her Majesty which is one of the nation’s honours. After this, Lewis was also invited by the Queen to have a private lunch where an incident occurred that the driver looks back on and still laughs about.

With Lewis Hamilton knowing her to an extent that a lot of people didn’t, he hasn’t made any comment on the situation. Although he will surely remember the fond memories that he has with the monarch. Once such memory was shared by Lewis in 2015 when he was at the Graham Norton show as a guest.

Lewis told the audience about how he got to learn dining etiquette from the Queen during a private lunch hosted by Her Majesty. “I got invited to a lunch and was sitting next to the Queen. I was excited and started to talk to her, but she said – pointing to my left – ‘No you speak that way first, and I’ll speak this way and then I’ll come back to you,” Lewis Hamilton revealed.
