When the Renault F1 engine played the melodious tune of ‘God Save the Queen’

A Renault F1 engine plays the tune of 'God Save the Queen'
The Renault F1 team has had a rollercoaster time in Formula 1, with the French giant last winning a world championship with Fernando Alonso in 2006. However F1 teams have a habit of putting on a display for the fans, hosting show runs where the drivers can indulge in doing burnouts and donuts without the fear of taking care of the engine or gearbox, and one of the best events for such a showcase is the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
A video on YouTube posted way back in 2006, shows the Renault garage working on the R26 from the 2006 season, with the team setting up the powerful V8 engine in the car. The engine then amazingly plays the tune of ‘God Save the Queen,’ the national anthem of the United Kingdom (Now God Save the King). The sound the engine creates replicates the anthem perfectly which is a testament to the technology Formula 1 engines possess and their capability to not only provide tons of horsepower to the drivers but also to be able to play a song tune.
The clip showcases the car playing the tune with such ease as if the engine was designed for this motive. And as the video ends, the whole garage gives a round of applause, and the fans are delighted. The engine revs loudly for a few seconds in the end before shutting down. The R26 was the championship-winning car that year and this video proved the car to be a master in music as well. This display could undoubtedly be used as the actual national anthem in our opinion. The V8s are considered one of the best engines the sport has ever seen and many prefer these engines over the current V6 hybrids and one can tell the reason.

Why is the engine of the French team Renault F1 playing the British national anthem?

This may have gotten some fans curious regarding the whole incident, as the Renault F1 team was run by the French carmaker Renault, yet the engine was set to play the national anthem of the United Kingdom. But there is an explanation for this irony, F1 may be an international sport but it has been concentrated in the British Isles. Formula 1 teams have been from a variety of different countries, be it French Renault, Austrian Red Bull, or German Mercedes but a majority of these teams set up their headquarters in the UK.
The Renault F1 team (Presently Alpine F1 team) was and is still no different, with the French outfit having its base in Enstone ever since its comeback to the sport as a constructor in 2002. The Goodwood Festival of Speed also takes place in the British county of East Sussex. Thus, many of the team members during this incident were British and of course, so were most of the fans. Hence ‘God Save the Queen was the right fit for this memorial performance in the heart of an event with a legacy of the UK.
Formula 1 is about winning, thus throughout the races we never witness any acts like this. As such an incident like this is special and stays in our memory for years to come. Not only does it put a smile on our faces seeing a beast of a machine play out a melody, but it also signifies why F1 machines are considered the best in the world, its a nod to the hard work of the team members spending hundreds of hours perfecting every little detail, and these guys get a hard-earned moment of happiness in times like this.
