Formula One driver Fernando Alonso is widely regarded as one of the most experienced and skilled drivers in the paddock. Having debuted in the sport decades ago, he has had a fair share in social engagements outside the track leading to relationships with multiple individuals. However the driver’s very first reported relationship was with Raquel del Rosario who was lead singer for the Spanish rock band El Sueno de Morfeo.
The couple had first started dating in 2005 and got married in 2006 but did not make it public until 2008. After five years of marriage, Fernando Alonso and his pop star wife Raquel del Rosario reportedly split up. Before their split, the pair lived in Oxford before they moved their residence to Switzerland. They were not very public about their relationship and the Spaniard’s wife could rarely be seen at the track for the F1 races. Compare that to today’s day and age where Valtteri Bottas’s girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell is present at almost all the races.
Fernando Alonso and Raquel del Rosario confirmed that they had broken up and issued press releases on their own websites to let the world know about their situation. The pair seem to have drifted apart due to the rigorous schedule that the two had with the former being an F1 driver and touring the world whilst the latter touring the world singing on different stages.

‘We are separating from marriage, but never as friends,’ Fernando Alonso and wife on their divorce
The statement further read. “After five years of marriage, we have decided to end our relationship as a couple. This has been a very though about and mutual decision. We are separating from marriage, but never as friends, and there is still a very strong affection and mutual admiration to ensure the happiness of the other,” they said.
“With this statement, addressed to all who follow our careers, we wish to bring an end to any speculation. With it, we ask that the media respects our personal lives which, as you know, we have always been keen to protect,” they continued.
Fernando Alonso is currently in a relationship with Andrea Schlager who is an Austrian TV presenter. It has been a couple of months since the pair first started dating. They decided previously to keep their relationship secret but went on to make it official after posting pictures of them together at the Miami Grand Prix this year.
