Guanyu Zhou regards Valtteri Bottas as the ‘ideal’ partner to embark upon debut Formula 1 journey

Alfa Romeo rookie Guanyu Zhou is the first ever Chinese racing driver in the history of f1 to compete in F1 alongside the Finnish driver, Valtteri Bottas, former Mercedes AMG driver for the 2022 season. Valtteri Bottas has scored 10 wins and 67 podiums while contributing 5 constructor championship wins to Mercedes. Valtteri Bottas will drive beside Guanyu Zhou, who finished 3rd in the 2021 FIA Formula 2 championship. Both the drivers will be racing for the Alfa Romeo Racing team after Kimi Raikkonen announced his retirement during the 2021 season and Antonio Giovinazzo fell out of seat, for the first time in f1.

Guanyu Zhou with the number 24 is all set to get behind the wheels of Alfa Romeo C40 on the grid for the season-opening race in Bahrain in March as the first ever full time Chinese f1 driver. In the postseason F1 race in Abu Dhabi, Alfa’s new recruit was acquainted with Valtteri for the first time, reckoning his maiden path with the right teammate. “For a rookie there is no better option than Valtteri Bottas as teammate for the first season” said Guanyu while striving to aim at beating his teammate with hard work and quick adaptation to the brand-new car of the 2022 f1 season.

Guanyu shares a few insights about his teammate, Valtteri Bottas and his racing excitement in an interview on social media, stating that Valtteri Bottas would help, Zhou to get through the learning curve which is of utmost importance and said that Valtteri is an open driver who shares a lot of helpful information and takes active part in team discussions. Complimenting on Valtteri’s driving skills, Zhou also talked about his wins, podiums and a privilege to compete against one of the few drivers, to outqualify Hamilton.

Guanyu’s aim for this season is to enjoy the game and not put much pressure on himself, for at least the first 2 races of the season. Although he does look forward to score some points for the Alfa Romeo team and strives to improve himself by learning from the team engineers and his fellow teammate with the reliance of natural improvement in results along with the learning process.
