Will Buxton makes interesting remark on Zak Brown’s ‘winning car’ comment for Daniel Ricciardo
It is no news that all the fans and motorsports enthusiasts are busy wondering about Daniel Ricciardo‘s racing future post the 2022 season of Formula 1, due to the abysmal performance displayed by the Australian in the eleven races that have happened so far. While this is Daniel’s second year in McLaren, he has still fallen short in his quest to secure a second Grand Prix victory as a McLaren racer, and has in fact, only scored 17 points for his team in this season.
With concerns that Daniel might be leaving McLaren, and subsequently Formula 1, at the end of 2022, many of the Honey Badger fans are disappointed as they believe it would be a long time before they see him race again. But dismissing all the doubts, McLaren Boss Zak Brown has confirmed that the relationship between him and Daniel Ricciardo is intact despite the lack of desirable results, and Daniel will continue to stay in McLaren in 2023, as the team wants to give him a winning car.
Now, SkySports presenter Will Buxton has added a new angle to the narrative that Daniel Ricciardo could stay at McLaren. According to him, Daniel might leave for the IndyCar team of McLaren.

Will Buxton gives his theory on Daniel Ricciardo’s future in Formula 1
Will Buxton has stated that he cannot digest the fact that McLaren will let Daniel Ricciardo continue to stay with them in Formula 1 even after the honey badger has come up short in bringing the team some much-needed Championship points. While Lando Norris has already scored 64 points in this season with a podium finish in Imola, Daniel’s best finish in 2022 was in his home race in Australia, where he came sixth. With such a wide gap between the performances of their two racers, McLaren would logically terminate their contract with Ricciardo in 2023 to hire a fresh talent.
In that case, Will Buxton thinks that Daniel Ricciardo will be shifting to McLaren’s IndyCar team. While speaking on this topic, Buxton said, “What’s most interesting is the precise wording of what Zak is saying. For while he insists Daniel will still be with McLaren in 2023, and they want to give him a winning car, he never categorically states Daniel will be with McLaren in F1. And their only winning car is in Indy.”
