Logan Sargeant’s rookie year has been under scrutiny all year, after mixed results throughout the 2023 season. However, after promising displays of pace and performance from the young American driver, the James Vowles-led Williams has re-signed Logan Sargeant for the 2024 season.
Sargeant graduated to Formula One after completing only a single season of the junior F2 series, where he finished fourth with two wins to his name, a point behind Liam Lawson, who also had a taste of F1 in 2023. Sargeant did not have the most prolific stint in the first half of the year, but improved drastically after the summer break, even scoring his only point in F1 at his home race in Austin.
With three home races for the 22-year-old, Sargeant had a lot of support from the American fanbase, especially as the US audience has grown drastically in recent years. With another contract for 2024, Sargeant has made 2023 the first time in history that there have been no driver lineup changes in the winter break.
Logan Sargeant recalls the best 2023 Formula One experience
Logan Sargeant achieved most racing drivers’ dreams by reaching the pinnacle of motorsport, getting the 2023 Williams seat. The American driver had his fair share of incidents as rookies do, but there were some highlights to the season that Sargeant enjoyed.
Surprisingly, the Austin 10th place finish that scored Sargeant his only point in F1 does not top the chart. The F2 race winner said that the qualifying session in Las Vegas saw both Williams drivers, Sargeant and his teammate Alexander Albon enter Q3. Sargeant qualified in his best-ever position on the F1 grid in seventh place.
I think to be able to finally put it together over three qualifying sessions was really nice, helped by the fact we had a quick car in Vegas, but that was definitely my highlight.Sargeant said, as reported by formula1.com
Logan Sargeant has been given a chance to prove himself, with a 2024 seat given to him at Williams. With a year of F1 experience under his belt, Sergeant will be expected to start improving and matching his teammate Albon, after being beaten at every qualifying session in 2023 by the former Red Bull driver.
