Logan Sargeant made his F1 debut this season with Williams Racing. The American driver was promoted from the Williams Driver Academy to a full-time seat. However, the 22-year-old has failed to live up to expectations in his rookie season. Now, rumors have emerged that the Grove-based team might be in talks with a potential replacement for Sargeant.
The American driver is the only driver to not have scored a point this year, excluding Nyck de Vries and Daniel Ricciardo. The 22-year-old has been annihilated in terms of results at the Grove-based team by teammate Alex Albon. Moreover, Logan Sargeant‘s debut season has been a costly affair for Williams with an estimated $3 Million going into repair bills for his car’s damage.
It seems that Aston Martin reserve and 2022 F2 champion Felipe Drugovich is the potential replacement for Sargeant. Drugovich was known to be in talks with Alfa Romeo to replace Zhou Guanyu. However, the Chinese driver earned an extension with the Sauber-run team instead. However, it seems that the former F2 champion has shifted his focus on replacing Logan Sargeant at the Grove-based team.
Swiss newspaper Blick reported, “Felipe Drugovich has been in negotiations for weeks. The reserve driver Aston Martin rejected Alfa-Sauber, probably for economic reasons. Doors are slowly opening at Williams.”

Can Logan Sargeant save his seat amidst rumors?
Drugovich is not the only driver looking to snatch Sargeant’s seat at Williams. Mercedes reserve driver Mick Schumacher is keen on making a return to the F1 grid in 2024. The Silver Arrows are rumored to be trying to convince the Grove-based team to sign Schumacher. Although, it seems that Logan Sargeant’s biggest threat is now Felipe Drugovich.
As per rumors, Williams might even consider replacing Sargeat this season itself if the American driver fails to improve his results. Although, it is believed that the 22-year-old will race at the two remaining US races this year, Las Vegas and Austin. Nevertheless, it appears that Logan Sargeant is facing a stiff challenge to save his F1 career.

The American driver will need to step up his performance in the remaining rounds of the season. Logan Sargeant can leave no room for error as he tries to convince Williams about his long-term prospects as a driver. However, with the looming threat of Felipe Drugovich and potentially Mick Schumacher, it might be too late for the 22-year-old.
