The Alfa Romeo F1 Team beat Aston Martin in the Constructors Championship this year and its Team Principal, Fred Vasseur has indicated that it has made a huge difference.
Alfa Romeo brought the curtain down on the 2022 season by being on equal points with Aston Martin but managed to clinch P6 on the back of its best individual race finish.
This year’s P6 in the Constructors Championship is the team’s best finish since 2012, and Vasseur while stressing about it, added, “It’s the best way for us to have a good winter because everybody will be in a positive mood.“
“On top of this it’s always crucial I think to have this kind of fight for us with Aston Martin – in terms of target it’s a good one. And for sure it will be also very helpful on the financial side.”
“As we are below the cost cap, every single push will be a big difference. We will see next year, but for sure it will help.”
“I know that some teams said that with $2m you can do nothing, but with $10m we will be able to do a lot!“

Alfa Romeo and the Aston Martin F1 Team went into the Abu Dhabi GP very close in terms of points in the Championship.
Moreover, Vasseur has made it known that his drivers were tasked with the duty of keeping the Aston Martin liveries at bay at the event.
While talking about the team’s strategy he added, “If we had a better quali I think we’d have a fight on our own to score points.”
“But with the quali, we had no other option but to try to control the situation with the strategy, and we did it well.”
He further added, “They both played a lot on the team side, and they did a great job on managing the situation with Vettel and Stroll. And for sure we can thank them at the end when we see that Vettel is fighting with Ricciardo.”
Lewis Hamilton had a late retirement during the Grand Prix that propelled the two Aston Martin into the points-scoring positions.
Vasseur further added, “It was more than tight!”
“I was quite relaxed on the pit wall until the issue for Lewis. And they both improved by one position, and it became a bit more tricky.”
“And the last couple of laps, I was the biggest fan of Daniel! For sure if Vettel was able to overtake Daniel it would have been another story.“
“But for us in the end, it’s a great achievement, and also the best preparation for next year.”
Frederick Vasseur and the whole Alfa Romeo F1 Team are ecstatic about securing P6 in the Championship and considering how much the team has suffered in recent years, it is very much deserved.
Alfa Romeo made a huge step up during the current campaign, however, next year could prove to be another story. In which direction do you see the Ferrari-sister team moving in 2023?
