Mick Schumacher, the Haas driver, had an outing to forget at the recently concluded race at the Circuit of the Americas, and for that, he has come under criticism from the sport’s pundits.

However, despite the strong remarks, Guenther Steiner has come forward and defended his driver from all that has been said about him since the end of the United States Grand Prix.

According to the Italian-American, Mick Schumacher was not at fault for how his race panned out and felt that his lackluster performance was down to the issues he incurred on the VF-22 when he went through the debris.

While stating his opinion on the same, Steiner added, “The car was damaged. You can’t see this performance as a [real] performance.”

I think he lost about 30 points of downforce because he drove through the debris. You don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t lost any downforce.”

Guenther Steiner has revealed the reason that slowed down Schumacher’s progress during the race and strongly believes that he could have had a better outing had he not lost any downforce.

When it comes to Haas in 2022, most of the headlines have been dominated by their young German driver, Mick Schumacher, as he does not have a contract in place for next year and most of the things in the media have been around his situation.

Moreover, the 23-year-old during the initial phase of the season was under extreme pressure because of the huge crashes that he caused, but since the British Grand Prix, there has been consistent improvement in his performances and it has put him in a better position to get a new contract then he was after the initial races of 2022.
