“Your performances don’t matter lads,” Fans fume over Laurent Rossi’s conviction regarding the best car or the best driver

Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi
Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi opened up in a recent interview regarding his thoughts after losing out on two precious drivers. Alpine out of the blue lost out on Fernando Alonso and Oscar Piastri after a conflict that started with Alonso shifting to Aston Martin. Oscar Piastri’s move isn’t under the rocks for anyone, and McLaren managed to get their hands on the young talent.
Rossi clearly mentioned his disappointment regarding both the moves with no hard feelings for Alonso but for the ‘untrustworthy’ Piastri. He then gave his thoughts on the driver compared to the 2023 car. Rossi clearly mentioned his approval for the car to be on the top and not the top drivers, saying even Max Verstappen won’t do a world of good if the car isn’t up to scratch. But this earned him the ire of fans.
Rossi said regarding Max Verstappen: “Imagine if you put Max Verstappen in the 18th or 19th position car. I doubt he is going to do better than perhaps three positions extra.”

Fan Reaction to Laurent Rossi’s convict

Fans aren’t really happy with what the Frenchman said, Laurent in a way undermined the efforts of the driver compared to the speed of the car. This ultimately brought out trolls for the CEO, with many fans backing up their drivers for the inputs they bring in after driving the car. Even just ‘three positions’ can ultimately make a lot of difference.
Fans slammed Alpine for their recent attitude, which has led to them losing both gems in their crown: Two-time championship winner Fernando Alonso, and perhaps the most exciting rookie in recent years, Oscar Piastri.
Alpine are currently fourth in the championship, with their car now definitely fourth-best. However, Lando Norris still leads the ‘best of the rest’, largely due to his amazing podium in Imola. On the other hand, his teammate, the departing Daniel Ricciardo has struggled once again this season, which is the main reason for McLaren’s gap to the French team.
