Sergio Perez‘s contract with Red Bull expires at the end of this year. Milton Keynes has made it clear that it will evaluate its options before resigning the 34-year-old. This has garnered interest in the paddock with multiple drivers eager to partner Max Verstappen. Now, VisaCashAppRB’s Yuki Tsunoda has expressed his interest in joining the Austrian team for next season.

The Japanese driver was asked if he would like to race for Red Bull next year. Yuki Tsunoda mentioned that he hoped to be considered by Milton Keynes. However, the 23-year-old claimed that he wanted to push himself to the limit to showcase his performance to the rest of the grid as well. Previously, the Honda prodigy was linked to an Aston Martin switch.

I mean, hopefully they will consider it. At the same time, I'll do as much as I can to show the performance to the other teams.

Tsunoda mentioned that he wanted to increase his value as a driver on the grid. This would solidify the Japanese driver as a strong contender for any available seat. However, Yuki Tsunoda affirmed that he was not aware of Red Bull’s plans for the upcoming season. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old hoped that he would be on the list of candidates to partner Max Verstappen. Helmut Marko recently stated that Tsunoda needed to improve to be an option for Milton Keynes

Tsunoda is currently the only Japanese driver on the F1 grid. The 23-year-old has had strong ties with Honda since his junior days, which allowed him to join VCARB. However, so far Yuki Tsunoda has failed to score points at the Japanese GP. However, the VCARB driver would be looking to turn things around this season.

The 23-year-old highlighted that his Australian GP points finish would bring hope for his home fans. Yuki Tsunoda might have the pace to finally score points in Suzuka. The 23-year-old affirmed that this was his aim for the Japanese GP. Moreover, Tsunoda highlighted that he had good momentum after his points finish at Albert park. Subsequently, things could go in favor of the Honda prodigy in front of the local fans.

At least [we're] able to give a bit of hope to the Japanese fans. I haven't achieved yet scoring points at my home grand prix. So that's what I need to do. I think so far the momentum is good and the car shape is good. Just have to reset ourselves and push again.

Certainly, Yuki Tsunoda has high targets for this season. The Japanese driver has successfully outperformed Daniel Ricciardo so far this year. As such, the 23-year-old would be hoping to carry on such performances in the upcoming races and solidify his claim for a Red Bull promotion for 2025.
