The Mexico GP was one of the best races for Haas rookie Oliver Bearman. The Briton qualified for the main race in P10. Bearman made a daring move and steered clear of the collisions during Lap 1 and immediately achieved the fourth position. Since then, he did not lose his position and even battled against Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri until the end of the race.
Oliver Bearman achieved the best finish for Haas in a very long time following his P4 finish at the Mexico GP. During Lap 1, Bearman even overtook Max Verstappen amid his battle with Lewis Hamilton. The Briton gave a hard time to Verstappen and did not let him overtake with ease. The Briton put forth a great defensive performance and held onto the position for as long as possible.
Ultimately, he lost the position to Max Verstappen, but fended off well against Oscar Piastri in the final stages of the race. As such, following the culmination of the race, an emotional Oliver Bearman recalled his battle with the reigning world champion and revealed his feelings in the moment. Bearman recounted the incidents ahead of him that helped him move up the pack quickly and easily.
Oliver Bearman pointed out that George Russell lost out on the DRS, and the Lewis Hamilton-Max Verstappen battle helped him gain quick positions. However, the Briton hilariously recalled that he was ‘sh**ing” himself while racing against Verstappen for the P3 position.
Subsequently, the rookie recalled that it was really cool to go wheel-to-wheel racing against drivers that he saw while he was just a child. The 20-year-old insisted that the Dutchman was in his mirrors for a very long time, as it was probably the most pressure he felt in a long while.
George lost DRS to the car ahead. And then Hamilton and Max had a bit of a coming together, and I benefited from that too. Honestly, I was sh***ing myself going side by side with Max, but it’s really cool to go wheel to wheel with these people that I’ve been watching since I started watching F1. And I had him in my mirrors for a long time, so it was probably the most pressure I’ve ever had in a race scenario.

Oliver Bearman reveals ‘great feeling’ for his F1 future following P4 finish in Mexico
Oliver Bearman is just in his rookie season and already achieving some great results. However, notably, all the rookies this year have been performing great. Still, Bearman held his own great against Max Verstappen and did not make his life any easier on the track. As such, the Briton pointed out how great it was to fight against the top cars and hold his own against the rivals.

Oliver Bearman insisted that he did not expect to fight with so many great drivers so early on in his career. The Haas driver still has many things to learn, but he is definitely looking promising for a great career ahead.
Bearman resonated with this feeling and pointed out that he was already having a great feeling for his future ahead. Moreover, he hoped for such results to be the new normal for him rather than a one-off in Mexico.
Yeah, it’s cool and I didn’t expect to be fighting against these top cars this year or this stage of my career. But it gives me a great feeling for the future, and hopefully that can be the normal thing instead of a one-off.
Oliver Bearman added
The 2025 season certainly has been one of the more enjoyable ones, more so as multiple drivers have been performing great since the beginning. The year has already witnessed a couple of rookies achieve a podium finish, with even Nico Hulkenberg finally achieving his long-awaited podium finish. As such, with four more races left this season, it will be exciting to witness the remainder of it.
