The first half of the 2024 Formula 1 season has been a vividly competitive affair for the various teams on the grid. With the campaign currently at a halt, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has confirmed a broken rib injury in light of the heavily demanding run of events this year.

Oscar Piastri has been one of the most impressive drivers on the grid in only his second season for the Papayas this campaign. The 23-year-old secured the maiden win of his career in Budapest and has amassed 167 points in 14 races.

Piastri posted a series of pictures from the first half of the season which included an X-ray of his broken rib. The X-ray image dates back to early July which could mean the Australian picked up the injury at Silverstone.

The prolific driver will now hope to recover fully in time for the Dutch Grand Prix this month. The second half of the season is a crucial spell for him and McLaren as they eye a title triumph for the first time since 2007.

Zak Brown delivers verdict on Lando Norris’s form in the title race

McLaren CEO Zak Brown claimed that Lando Norris has been grumpy with his mistakes while chasing Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the championship. Verstappen leads the 2024 title race, while Norris trails in second by 78 points.

I've not spoken with him yet, so I don't know exactly how he feels. I've not seen his interviews, but we know Lando is pretty critical of himself, so I'm sure he'll be grumpy that he made that mistake at the start. But he makes very few mistakes and gets it very right, so we're right there with him
Zak Brown spoke to Sky Germany

Lando Norris has been far from clinical despite being on a stellar run of form this season. The 24-year-old’s mistakes have cost him heavily and have also enabled Max Verstappen to notch up quite a few wins in races.

Zak Brown has, however, backed Norris to make a comeback and perform more efficiently during the second half of the season. The prolific Brit will now reflect on his mistakes and be hopeful of a better spell after the summer break.
