McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has refused to rule out Red Bull despite their struggles with Sergio Perez this season. Perez has been one of the weaker links for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit, amassing only 131 points so far.
Sergio Perez‘s form has been a cause of concern for Red Bull for some time. The Mexican has shown sheer brilliance during certain races while struggling to finish within the points in many of the other events.
Keeping the Mexican’s struggles in view, Oscar Piastri has talked of Perez’s ability to bounce back in crucial moments. Piastri then concluded that McLaren must be at the top of their form to surpass Red Bull’s brilliance going forward.
We are in a strong position, the gap has of course become smaller during the last seven, eight races. We have a lot of momentum, but I am not discounting Red Bull at all. Max (Verstappen, ed.) is doing great, and Sergio (Pérez, ed.) has had a dip in form like that before and managed to get out of it then too. We will see, but it will not be an easy battle.Oscar Piastri via Formule1.nl
Piastri, on the other hand, has been in top form, especially since the last few races. He secured the maiden win of his career at Budapest and will now look to perform in a similar manner this week at the tricky Zandvoort racing circuit.
Lando Norris reflects on his approach ahead of the second half of 2024
McLaren’s Lando Norris failed to convert pole positions in Barcelona and Budapest into victories, which is indicative of his knack for making mistakes. Norris currently stands second in the championship, trailing Max Verstappen by 78 points.
I looked back on things. I'm fighting for a championship, so I'm not going to be happy if I'm not performing at the level that I need to, to beat Max, Red Bull and other drivers.Lando Norris via SkySports
Lando Norris reflected on his shortfalls to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. He then claimed that his approach should be utterly concentrated on winning, regardless of being against Max Verstappen or the others.
The Papayas have not won the constructors championship since 1997 and have looked inevitably the closest in doing so this season. They will therefore have to keep up with the same intensity while being wary of not repeating mistakes to win the title this year.
