Formula 1 drivers often express frustration when their plans go wrong or when an unfortunate crash occurs. This frustration sometimes leads to swearing on the team radio. To uphold community guidelines, the FIA imposed a ban on using curse words. However, yesterday, Oscar Piastri along with his teammate Lando Norris and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, joked about Norris’s wall incident and swearing.

The top three drivers were in the cooldown room, catching their breath and reviewing their performances after the race. Lando Norris, who won the Singapore GP, narrowly avoided hitting a wall.

If he had crashed, clearly he would have felt frustrated and disappointed, likely using some curse words. Oscar Piastri jokingly asked Norris how it felt to get through that moment without swearing.

So without using swear words, how did you feel when you did that moment?
Oscar Piastri asked.

Max Verstappen, who was fined for swearing in a press conference about his car’s condition, was also present. The Dutchman secured P2 after several challenging races and joined the two McLaren drivers in laughing about the situation. Norris noted that it’s easy for the FIA to ask drivers not to swear, but controlling emotions during races is challenging.

The swearing drama had everyone talking about it. Many drivers disagreed with the ban on swearing via team radio, and some even shared humorous captions about the situation. Piastri posted a picture on his official X profile, highlighting the hot racing conditions. His caption mentioned that despite the heat and frustration, he controlled his emotions, leading to a strong, swear-free performance. Ultimately, he celebrated his good result at the end of the race.

Without swearing, that was blinking warm. Good race, nice podium.

Certainly, Norris’s victory, along with Piastri’s third-place finish, gave McLaren a 41-point lead over Red Bull. With six rounds remaining in the season, the Brit-Aussie duo must continue performing strongly, possibly aiming for 1-2 finishes. Fans were thrilled with Norris’s third win this season and are now rooting for him to claim the coveted driver’s championship.
