McLaren’s Oscar Piastri has had a dream run during the ongoing 2024 F1 season. From his maiden Grand Prix win in Hungary to consistently being at the throat of his teammate Lando Norris, Piastri has impressed people up and down the paddock with his outings.
The campaign is currently at a halt courtesy of the three-week break and amidst this, Oscar Piastri has taken the time to talk about his racecraft. The 23-year-old genuinely believes he has areas where he needs to improve.

Piastri has so far managed to amass 237 points in the 2024 driver’s championship.
It is just a bit of everything [where I must improve] because I feel like I’m improving a lot as I go through my career, but I’m certainly not the finished product yet.

Piastri has made it quite clear that he still has quite a few areas where he needs to improve. However, he has also emphasized the improvements he has made so far in his racing career. The 23-year-old is only in his second campaign at the pinnacle of motor racing.
Oscar Piastri to work on ‘weaknesses’ ahead of the last stretch of 2024
While Oscar Piastri admitted to not being a finished product, he has also insisted on working on his weaknesses to have a strong end to the 2024 season. Qualifying has been one area where Piastri has quite easily proved second best against Lando Norris.

There’s still going to be some tough races in the latter part of the year on tracks that I’ve only been to once, and just trying to work on some of the weaknesses I had at those tracks last year is still going to be key to end the season.

The ongoing campaign has only six Grand Prix remaining on the calendar. The Woking-based McLaren is handsomely leading the Constructors’ Championship courtesy of the efforts of Norris and Piastri.
However, things could get a bit tense in the papaya garage when it comes to the driver’s championship. Norris has a shot against Max Verstappen and this could force McLaren to enforce team orders on Piastri. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, the remaining six races could produce some real fireworks between the papaya pair.
