F1 presenter David Croft shares a hilarious anecdote while watching the Cricket documentary: ‘The Greatest Game’

David Croft expresses his appreciation for the cricket documentary- 'The Greatest Game'

David Croft is one of the most well-known and respected broadcasters in Formula 1. He has been the lead commentator for Sky Sports F1 since 2012 and has helped the broadcasting giant to deliver ever-improving coverage of the sport. The 52-year-old is a fan favorite who provides the viewers with all the information about the happenings in the races.

The Brit’s words have become synonymous with a whole host of moments in Formula 1, one of the more popular ones being the “but here comes Sebastian Vettel” when Sebastian Vettel charged ahead of Lewis Hamilton and the two Force India car, going four wide at one stage at Spa Francorchamps, with the German getting past all his rivals. Any Grand Prix is incomplete without the presence of David in the commentary box.

Croft has a friendly image in the paddock, he is always in for jokes, with a recent example being in Las Vegas when George Russell asked David if he had permission to question Red Bull drivers. The British presenter has keen interests in sports other than F1 as well, most notably his coverage of the 2002 FIFA world cup and the 2004 Summer Olympics. Even today while leading the Formula 1 coverage for Sky, Crofty spends his leisure time catching up to other professional sports and expressing his thoughts to his fans.

David Croft brings up an incident about his friend

Crofty has been the face of Sky Sports F1 for a decade

After the Las Vegas Grand Prix launch last weekend, Crofty came back home to the UK and spent his time watching the Cricket Documentary, ‘The Greatest Game,’ a show which followed the journey of the English cricket team at the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The Brit tweeted his appreciation for the film and said, “Beautifully paced throughout, such openness from those involved in this extraordinary match.” Croft also complimented the filmmakers and called it a “wonderful film”

In the following tweet, the 53-year-old shared a story with his fans, talking about the world cup final where his friend named Geoff had to leave the final post the first innings, in order to take his wife to watch the performance of English singer Robbie Williams. Crofty laughed at remembering it and said, “That story, for obvious reasons, didn’t make the documentary” but the Brit also expressed the fact that Geoff could at least watch the film to see how the rest of the game played out.

Crofty is someone who is critical but never would never shy away from praising someone if they deserve it. His fondness of the film would let his fans know its worth, leading to some fans probably watching it themselves. Though as the last two rounds of the F1 championship approach, we hope to see David again in the commentary box before the long-drawn winter break.
